• Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom at various times and locations.

• Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.
• Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of students.
• Advise students in academic matters or refer students to appropriate resources.
• Assess students’ performance through a range of measurement activities and keep them informed of their progress in a timely manner.

• Assist in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.

• Provide recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate college committees regarding curriculum, instruction and division operations.

• Adhere to Alvin Community College’s policies and procedures.
• Attend institutional meetings as required.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering
Minimum of three (3) years of non-teaching work experience
OR
• Associate’s degree in Process Technology
Minimum of three (3) years of non-teaching work experience
• Demonstrate strong understanding of process systems and controls; ability to teach analog, PLC’s and digital control systems, and demonstrate mastery of course content.
• Must be able to learn and teach the Simtronics Simulators, the Emerson DeltaV Total Trainer, Polaris 656 Trainer and its Siemen’s 1200 PLC, and various tabletop trainers utilized by the ACC Process Technology program
• Must be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Possess a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
• Commitment to diversity; ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints; ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
• Serve as liaison with industry and related organizations

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering or Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in engineering
• Experience in development of curriculum and instructional materials
• Teaching experience in the field of Process Technology
• Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system or other Learning Management System

Work Hours

May include day and evening teaching assignments, as well as, dual credit courses offered at local high school campuses.
